1,5-Dihydroxy naphthalene is a derivative of naphthalene, soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, ether and chloroform, and insoluble in water. It also has fluorescent properties. Its excitation spectrum is located in the ultraviolet region and it can emit blue to green fluorescence.

Application:
