Guar gum is a plant gum that can be extracted from the fruit of the carob tree and guar beans. Carob tree is a perennial shrub, mainly growing in the Mediterranean coast, Guar bean is an annual leguminous plant, mainly growing in India, Pakistan and Texas and other desert-like areas, suitable for growing in the day and night temperature difference and sufficient rain, the current use of guar gum is basically extracted from guar bean. After peeling, the mature guar beans are sent to the grinding plant, where they are separated into endosperm flakes, germ and skin by thermochemical treatment. The germ is often used as animal feed with a high protein content. Endosperm flakes are processed into guar gum at the mill.

Application: 

1.Biological immobilization carrier material: Guar gum can be used for the preparation of immobilized tyrosinase biofilm.

2. Application in the field of controlled drug release: Guar gum is a natural galactomannan polymer, which is only degraded by bacteria in the colon, and is an important candidate material for targeted colonic drug release. However, its high water solubility and dilatability lead to intra-gastric release of drugs, which limits its application.

3. Application in fisheries and environmental protection: the addition of guar gum as a binder to feed significantly enhances the particle stability and mechanical strength of fish feces, facilitates the timely cleaning of feces, and reduces the harm to fish.
